2025 Hurricane Forecast: What Your Clients Need to Know

2025 Hurricane Season

Hurricane season is almost upon us.

Last week, the National Hurricane Center began issuing daily tropical outlooks, highlighting areas showing potential for tropical development.

Are your insureds prepared for what this season has in store?

Climate scientists are predicting another rough season, with potentially up to 17 named storms and nine hurricanes—four of which are expected to reach Category 3 or higher. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, current ocean conditions could accelerate hurricane development. While this sounds significant, scientists predict the season will be less active than last year.

In 2024, the Atlantic Basin saw 18 named storms, with five hurricanes making landfall in the U.S.

There is still a short window of time to ensure your insureds are financially prepared for this year’s hurricane season. If you haven’t already, now is the time to educate them on their potential risk and the coverage options available. Whether your clients are in the market for a new residential or commercial property—or shoring up their current properties—it’s vital they understand their risk level and all that could be impacted by floodwaters beyond just structural damage.

Businesses affected by flooding could be closed for weeks, or even months, during repairs. Homes could become uninhabitable. Contents could be deemed a total loss. These challenges can create a significant financial strain. If your clients are relying solely on NFIP coverage, they could find not only their homes and businesses—but also their bank accounts—underwater.

At AFR Insurance Services, we work alongside agents to help their clients stay protected and informed.

With our broad and growing network of flood insurance providers, we have the market depth to shop for coverage beyond the NFIP — at a competitive cost. We also offer additional living expense and business income coverage to provide greater security.

If you’re not already appointed with us, now is the time.
